Meet the Adnams Board
Jonathan Adnams Chairman
Joined Adnams in 1973 working in brewery engineering and has worked in all aspects of the company. Joined the Board in 1988 running pubs and property and then assuming the role of Managing Director in 1997. Jonathan took over the role of Chairman in August 2006.
Dr. Andy WoodManaging Director
Dr Andy Wood joined Adnams in 1994 with responsibility for developing its customer service and supply chain operations. He joined the Board in 2000 with the additional responsibility of Sales, Marketing and the Wine business and became Managing Director in 2006. Andy is also Chairman of a drug and alcohol harm reduction Charity and lectures at a number of business schools throughout the UK. Prior to joining Adnams he worked for Norwich Union in a number of roles in Customer Service, Purchasing, IT and Change Management.
Stephen Pugh Finance Director
Joined as Finance Director in October 2003, having worked for Price Waterhouse, NM Rothschild, Burberrys and The Economist Group. He is a member of Council of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and chairs their Policy and Technical Committee.
Simon Loftus non-exec director
Joined Adnams in 1969 to run the Wine business, and subsequently took charge of the Hotels before being elected Chairman in 1995. Retired in 2006. Simon Loftus is a Non-exec Director of the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society and of 1st East (the Urban Regeneration Company for Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft) and a Member of the Council of Aldeburgh Music. Author of several books and numerous articles on wine, food and social history.
William Kendall non-exec director
William Kendall is an environmentalist, entrepreneur and Suffolk organic farmer. He ran The New Covent Garden Soup Company for most of its first 10 years before buying the then tiny Green & Black’s organic chocolate business. Apart from advising Adnams, William is also a director of Notcutts, the Suffolk based garden centre chain. He invests in early stage and branded businesses and his portfolio currently includes a sheep’s wool insulation manufacturer, Sleeperz a new lifestyle hotel group and Moyses Stevens, the royal florist.
Steven Sharp non-exec director
Steven started his retail marketing career with the Bejam Group in 1978. He progressed to the Argyll Group and became Marketing Director of Asda in 1987. He joined the Board of Debenhams on the same day as Stuart Rose in 1989, and became Group Marketing Director of the Burton Group. Steven continued his relationship with Stuart as Marketing Director of Booker, Arcadia and now Marks & Spencer. Steven joined the Adnams Board in June 2007.
