The Good Pub Guide votes The Crown 'County Dining Pub of the Year 2009'

The Crown in Southwold, Suffolk has been voted ‘County Dining Pub of the Year 2009’ by The Good Pub Guide.

The award comes in the same month that The Crown was awarded the Sustainable Tourism Award at the Tourism in Suffolk Awards. The venue also holds t

he prestigious Les Routiers Hotel of the Year (Central and East Anglia) and received the Morning Advertiser National Wine Pub of the Year Award in 2007.

Speaking about the announcement, Francis Guildea, manager of The Crown and The Swan Hotels said: “We are thrilled to win this latest award, recognising our efforts to create a really friendly pub and restaurant which appeals to both locals and tourists alike. The combination of excellent service, exciting menu ch

The Crown recently welcomed head chef Robert Mace to its busy kitchen. Robert trained at West Suffolk College, before embarking on his glittering career, which has included a variety of prestigious events from Buckingham Palace garden parties to the Chelsea Flower Show Royal Gala Evening. With a background in fine dining, and a strong focus on traditional food, Robert is delighting guests with his inspired menus created using local, organic and sustainably-sourced ingredients.
