Adnams Coastal Cleans

What are Adnams Coastal Cleans?

Four times a year we organise Coastal Cleans of a stretch of Southwold’s beautiful beach.

Why does Adnams get involved?

Adnams and the coast are inextricably linked; our ‘Beer from the Coast’ advertising campaign, it’s where Adnams is based and where many of us have a lot of fun. We wanted to ‘give something back’, so in 2003 we adopted a 1km stretch of Southwold’s beach between Gun Hill and the Harbour under the Marine Conservation Society’s Adopt-a-Beach scheme. Afterwards we like to reward ourselves with fish & chips and for those over-18s amongst us, a well-earned pint of Adnams beer!

Can I join in?

We’d love you to join us. Anyone can come along; our youngest Coastal Cleaner was just 4 weeks old! You can register your interest by emailing coastalclean@adnams.co.uk

What is the format?

We meet at the Adnams Swan Hotel between 10.30 – 11am for a brief briefing and issue of equipment and then head down to Gun Hill at 11am to begin our clean. We usually end up in the Harbour Inn just before 1pm.

Marine Conservation Society

The MCS is dedicated to caring for our seas, shores and wildlife. MCS campaigns for clean seas and beaches, sustainable fisheries and protection of all marine life. Adopt-a-Beach and Beachwatch are coastal environmental initiatives organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS).

Suffolk Coast & Heaths

Suffolk play a major part in the MSC’s annual Beachwatch survey. This year Suffolk Coast and Heaths co-ordinated 29 groups surveying 22km of our beautiful coastline.  Adnams offers a small ‘thank-you’ to all Suffolk volunteers by offering them a voucher for their well-earned pint in one of the 13 pubs that participate in the scheme.
