because we prefer to leave our footprints in the sand, not on the environment
Please come and join us in Southwold on Saturday 20 September for the BigAdnams Coastal Clean up of the year
Adnams and the coast are inextricably linked; our ‘Beer from the Coast' advertisingcampaign, it's where Adnams is based and where many of us have a lotof fun. We wanted to ‘give something back', so in 2003 we adopteda 1km stretch of Southwold's beach between Gun Hill and the Harbour underthe Marine Conservation Society's Adopt-a-Beach scheme. This means thatwe clean it at least four times a year and afterwards we like to reward ourselveswith fish & chips and a well-earned pint of Adnams beer!
September is perhaps the most significant Adnams Coastal Clean of the yearas it's when the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) conducts their annualBeachwatch survey. During last year's MCS Beachwatch survey weekend over4,200 volunteers took part cleaning and surveying over 350 beaches and collectingover 3,000 bags of litter. Suffolk played a major part in this with SuffolkCoast and Heaths co-ordinating 29 groups surveying 22km of our beautiful coastline.Adnams offers a small ‘thank-you' to all Suffolk Beachwatch volunteersby offering them a voucher for their well-earned pint in one of the 13 pubsthat participate in the scheme.
We'd love you to come and join us on our next Coastal Clean which takesplace on Saturday 20 September. We meet at the Swan Hotel between 10.30 – 11amfor a brief briefing and issue of equipment and then we head down to Gun Hillat 11am to begin our clean. We usually end up in the Harbour Inn for our pintof Adnams and fish & chips just before 1pm.
That's about it – everyone welcome (no pint of Adnams for under18s and dogs!). This is a very popular event and numbers are limited to registeryour place email: emma.hibbert@adnams.co.uk
