19th – 28th September
The Adnams sponsored Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival is a celebration
of Suffolk's finest food & drink featuring an array of producers, tastings,
cooking demonstrations, country walks and much more.
From Friday 19th September there will be an exciting range of activities and
events taking place throughout the region from Southwold to Woodbridge culminating
in a two day extravaganza at Snape Maltings on Saturday 27th and Sunday
28th September. At this exciting two day event, over 70 local producers will offer
tastings and showcase their products, there will be cookery demonstrations,
a children's corner, workshops, discussion forums, boat trips and RSPB-guided
walks.
The food and drink of our region is exceptional and we are determined to celebrate
this and take it to a wider audience by holding an annual Aldeburgh Food & Drink
Festival.
This will be the third Festival to take place and already the whole event has
developed a large following, Adnams is proud to support this fantastic event,
which has become a 'must visit' on every Foodie's calendar.
In particular this year the Festival is delighted to welcome world famous
celebrity chefs Tom Aikens of Tom Aikens, London, Fergus Henderson of St. John,
London, Matthew Fort & Tom Parker-Bowles of ITV's Market Kitchen,
Mark Hix formerly from The Ivy & now of Hix Oyster & Chop House, as
well as local celebrity, Ruth Watson of The Crown & Castle, Orford and
Channel 4's Hotel Inspector. Also Sheila Dillon from BBC Radio 4 Food
Programme and Rose Prince, food writer from The Telegraph will be visiting,
as well as all your local favourite food experts, passionate about our local
produce.
The Festival has been designed to bring together producers, farmers, environmental
land managers, food experts, cooks – and the public. The result of the
Festivals is that we have been able to take you to the farms, woods, wildlife
reserves and seashore where so much of our wonderful food is grown and produced,
carefully gathered and expertly prepared.
At Snape Maltings our marquees will be filled with an extraordinary selection
of fresh fish and succulent meats, delicious dairy products, amazing breads,
cakes and pies, hearty vegetables, freshly-made fruit juices, jams and chutneys,
quality beers and wines. The Festival is our showcase. We hope it leads you
on a voyage of discovery.
